Firefox crash when video driver is selected

Hello,

I used splitcam for a while on windows 10 with firefox (only browser working fine) without issues. When prompted with permissions on firefox, both "splitcam video Driver" and "splitcam video filter" were showing, but for some reason the one working was the latter (filter).

I didn't used the program for a while, and now, after updating flash, firefox and splitcam to the latest versions, splitcam video filter has disappeared.
Not only that, but whenever i select splitcam video driver in the permissions, firefox crashes immediately

I tried reinstalling old splitcam version but the issue is the same. Video filter is just no more available, and the other one crashes firefox every time.

Is it a known issue? didnt find it in previous posts.

Thank you for the message,but I don't understand this issue.

Please, give us details of that crash by steps. How can we reproduce it in our lab?

Victor

Sorry, here's a step by step description of the issue:

1 - With firefox, i open a website with a video chat application, ex Tinychat
2 - i press the button to start broadcasting
3 - firefox prompt me with the request for permissions to use camera (top left icon). As camera, sometimes it shows only the laptop webcam (no "Splitcam video Driver" or "splitam video filter"). Sometimes it shows Splitcam video Driver, but if i select it and press on "allow", Firefox just closes, and shows me a "mozilla crash report".

A few months ago, before last updates, i would have selected "splitcam video filter" and it would have worked fine.

I use windows 10 and have both firefox and Splitcam updated to the latest versions

Thanks for the detail info.

By your steps I tried to reproduce that issue on my PC. FF worked with Splitcam well.
See the attached screenshot.

My environment:

1. OS: Win10 x64 1709 version

2. Splitcam 8.0.1.12 Beta:

viewtopic.php?f=19&t=7686

3. Firefox 57.0.1 64 bit

4. Adobe Flash Player 27.0.0.187

5. For testing Splitcam and Flash I used a special page:

http://kvy.com.ua/my-flash-page/

6. I selected a Splitcam Video Driver in the tab Webcam in the Flash settings.

7. Pressed the Allow -> no crash.

I recommend you to do the followings:

1. Set the last version of Splitcam, Firefox and Flash.
2. Run the FF and clean all history and cookies, for details use Google.
3. Load the test Flash page:

http://kvy.com.ua/my-flash-page/

You also can try to test a Splitcam by another page

http://kvy.com.ua/webcam-test-html5/

This page uses HTML5 (no Flash) for capture of video

Thanks for your support, but I'm afraid I need more assistance...

I followed your instruction, and installed the beta version of splitcam, made sure I updated flash and deleted all the firefox cache and cookies.

In the test flash page, after allowing the flash plugin, neither flash nor the browser requested permission to use the camera. I right-clicked on the flash application to open flash settings, clicked on "allow" webcam, and selected "Splitcam video Driver". The flash application screen didn't show anything, just black. Even selecting my laptop webcam the result is the same, the screen just stay black.

In the HTML test page, I press start button at the top. Firefox ask me permission to share camera, and I can select either my laptop camera or "splitcam video Driver". If I select my laptop camera, it works fine and I see the video in the webpage.
If I reload the page and select "splitcam video driver" instead, firefox immediately crashes when i press "allow".

I'll try reinstalling firefox but I'm not sure it will fix anything

From your log:
=== [2017.12.03, 23:01:10.567 UTC] ERROR:

> CDirectShow::CreateObjectFromPath()- CreateInstance(NULL) error 0x80004005

==== [2017.12.03, 23:01:10.568 UTC] ERROR:

> CWebCamCaptureHandler::BuildGraph()- FindWebCam(&pWebCamSrcFilter)error 0x80004005
I see the following:
Splitcam started with the source - Video and could not connect its internal codec. After abnormal jump to webcam with the error, Splitcam loaded the film with a Windows codec.

I believe you have a problem with access rights to video resources in the OS. We met those issues when OS was inactivated - old drivers worked well,
but after install new drivers had problems. Or if OS activation was well, but there was a problem when upgraded.
